Sri Aurobindo Nilaya, Santiniketan

At the end of the '50s, a devotee Shri Bibhutibhushan Sinha in Santiniketan wanted to offer land to The Mother to start a centre, a place to congregate and meditate on The Mother and Sri Aurobindo, with a meditation room and a library.

Sri Aurobindo Nilaya - the name given by The Mother, was inaugurated on December 21, 1961.

The Mother had written a beautiful message at inception:

"To open a centre is not sufficient in itself. It must be the pure hearth of a perfect sincerity in a total consecration to the Divine. Let the flame of this sincerity rise high above the falsehoods and the deceptions of the world."
