Secretary's Report for the year 2004-2005
placed in the Annual General Meeting of Sri Aurobindo
Institute of Culture, held on 31st August 2005 at 3, Regent Park
Kolkata - 700 040
Ladies and Gentlemen :
I welcome you to this 30th Annual General Meeting of your Institute and present before you the Audited Accounts for the year ended 31st March 2005 for your approval.
"We shall call it Lakshmi's House and it will be the Home of Grace" - The Mother wrote in February 1968. The reference was to the temple that today houses Sri Aurobindo's relics, the home of Sri Aurobindo Institute of Culture, nominee of Sri Aurobindo Ashram Trust, Pondicherry.
What had been conceived in 1968 is now a reality. The Institute and Lakshmi's House have justly and truly assumed the character of a formidable educational, cultural, social and research institution. Today is a very special day. The Annual General Meeting is held on the birthday of our Founder Chairman, Sri P. K. Bhattacharya. Today is his birth centenary. His vision is our guiding force.

HOMAGE
|
The Institute paid homage to Sri Aurobindo on his 132nd Birth Anniversary on 15th August 2004 and to The Mother on her 127th Birth Anniversary on 21st February 2005.
We lovingly recollect our Vice-Chairman, Sri Manindra Pal who passed away in Pondicherry on July 24, 2005. Manager of Gloria Land Farm, Manindrada was intimately linked with the dynamic evolution of our Institute. A lot of the planning and execution related to our school children's annual Pondicherry trip was done by him. He was instrumental in bringing our second Chairman Dyumanbhai to Lakshmi's House after a stay in the Ashram for sixty long years.
We mourn the death of Sri Sourindra Nath Dutta, our Vice Chairman, on August 19, 2004 after prolonged illness. He was a renowned legal practitioner and also a friend, philosopher & guide to this Institute. He gave shape and constitutional structure to the dreams of our Founder Chairman.
We deeply mourn the untimely demise of Nemai Sadhan Bose, former Vice-Chancellor of Viswabharati who left for his heavenly abode on August 17, 2004. Born in Howrah, Ramkrishnapore, he was a Professor of Jadavpur University and later Vice-Chancellor of Visva Bharati University. He was honoured with various national and international awards. He was intimately associated with Sri Aurobindo Institute of Culture, and Joyadi.
We fondly remember our member Smt. Uma Ghosh, our beloved Umadi who left for her heavenly abode on October 28, 2004. Uma Ghosh was a Teacher in Shantiniketan. She used to look after Sri Aurobindo Nilaya at Santiniketan. She had also been a close associate of Joyadi.
We lovingly remember Sri Aloke Kumar Ghosh, our Dadabhai who left for his heavenly abode on November 5, 2004. He was the elder brother of our beloved Joyadi. On November 19, 2004, at Lakshmi's House, a Memorial meeting was held with solo songs by Sri Anuruddha Singha and tributes from friends and admirers.
We deeply mourn the sudden and untimely demise of our Smt. Roma Mondal at Kolkata on November 19, 2004. Smt. Roma Mondal was a noted exponent of Rabindra Sangeet and was under the tutelage of Smt. Suchitra Mitra for the last 20 years. She was associated with this Institute for many years as a teacher in Shakti Centre. She was also the moving force behind the Rabindra Jayanti programme.
We lovingly remember Mr. Universe Monotosh Roy who left for his heavenly abode on June 29, 2005, Sri Roy created and nurtured our Yogasana class over the years. Sri Roy had met the Mother in Pondicherry and has recorded his reminiscences of that meeting.
We were shocked by the untimely demise of Smt. Sudeshna Paul on June 11, 2005. She was a very dedicated teacher of The Future Foundation School who died in harness, serving the Mother.
We lovingly recall our association with Sri Kanupriyo Chattopadhyay of Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Pondicherry who passed away in the first week of August, 2005. He was a regular contributor to 'Basudhara'.
