Report of the Secretary of the Institute for the year 2002 - 2003, placed before the Annual General Meeting of Sri Aurobindo Institute of Culture, held on 31st August 2003 at 3, Regent Park , Kolkata - 700 040

 Ladies and Gentlemen,
I welcome you to this 28th Annual General Meeting of your Institute and present before you the Audited Accounts for the year ended 31st March 2003 for your approval.

HOMAGE

The Institute paid homage to the Mother on Her 125th Birth Anniversary on 21st February, 2003.

Dyumanbhai, former Chairman of the Institute, will always be remembered in Lakshmi House as he was like a father-figure to us. He always took keen interest in our work. We are celebrating his birth centenary this year.

Arun Tagore, the founder of the Institute, will always be remembered in Lakshmi House because the Mother named our Nursery school -Arun Nursery. The Institute pays homage to his memory on his birthday on 15th March every year.

The birthday of Pradyot Kumar Bhattacharya is celebrated every year on 31st August in the Future Foundation School as Founder's day. Every year, our Annual General Meeting is held on this day. His very close friend and co-seeker, Nirodbaran, is also turning one hundred this year.

Joyadi's 67th birthday was fondly remembered by the school children, teachers, staff and well-wishers on 2.2.2003. In the morning ,Ramananda Bandopadhyay dedicated to her, like he has done before, a solo exhibition of his paintings. In the evening , at Rabindra Sadan, Dr. Amalendu De and Barry O'Brien offered tribute to Joyadi. Two books , one on Joyadi , and one she had proposed to undertake , were releases on the occasion by Dr Govindagopal Mukherjee. This was followed by Dance-Drama - "Savitri" - by Smt Alokananda Roy and Sri Shanti Bose, based on Nolinida's translation of Sri Aurobindo's immortal epic, originally directed by Joyadi, and staged by her for the Mother's Centenary.

Twenty five years later, our memories are as alive as yesteryear and the Institute re-enacted the dance-drama, at the same time, same venue, with the same cast , same musical composition. It was our homage to the Mother on Her 125th Birth Anniversary and our tribute to Joyadi on her 67th Birthday.

A cassette by HMV was released by Joyadi on the occasion of the Mother's centenary titled -THE MOTHER, which was republished this year, on the 125th Birth Anniversary of the Mother. It was our homage to the Mother.
