Inauguration of Voice of Freedom - An Exhibition of Paintings - Curated by Jogen Chowdhury

The exhibition “Voice of Freedom” was organised on the occasion of Sri Aurobindo's Birthday and Rabindranath Tagore's 150th Birth Anniverssary. The Exhibition was curated by none other than the eminent artist Shri Jogen Chowdhury , based on the ideas of Freedom of these two sages. Inaugurated by the Honouarble Governor of West Bengal, Shri M.K.Narayanan on July 28, 2010. The exhibition remained open till August 10, 2010.

The gathering consisting of artists, devotees and general art lovers of the city was welcomed by the Secretary of the Institute. He spoke about the importance of this exhibition, particularly of the rare privilege of its being curated by Shri Jogen Chowdhury himself.
Shri Jogen Chowdhury, while thanking the Institute for inviting him to curate the show shared his views on the need of holding such exhibitions, which, according to him, transformed the present world civilization to a relevant commentary. Appealing to the distinguished audience to turn to the galaxy of the talented young artists who participated in the exhibition and see how they have looked at the world and the life around them and what freedom they seek to ascertain in their life and existence.


Shri M.K. Narayanan, Honouarble Governor and the Chief Guest spoke on the importance of this gallery in creating a good atmosphere of art in Calcutta. Recollecting the importance of this exhibition is being curated by none other than Jogenda, he had expressed his hope that this Institution will carry on more similar distinguished activities in near future.
