Association of Schools For The Indian School Certificate this year organised the National Drawing and Painting Competition , on 16th September, 2009. The host school was none other than the esteemed Institution, The Future Foundation School. Budding and very promising young artists from different regions of India participated in this unique exhibition of creativity and displayed fine aestheticism.

A traditional welcome was offered to the participants with blowing of conch shells, offering of roses and ceremonial tilaks. In his inaugural speech Shri Ranjan Mitter, Principal of the host school, first congratulated all the qualifiers for the National Final and then expressed his pleasure and gratitude on behalf of his school on being given the honour of hosting this national contest.

Celebrated painters of the city were present to grace the occasion and made their commendable presence felt in various capacities. Shiromoni Tajratna Honoured painter Shri Sunil Das Inaugurated the competition by lighting the ceremonial brass lamp and his inspiring speech and precious words of encouragement to the young artists touched every heart present at the Hall of Light. To evaluate the canvases were two other very acclaimed painters, Shri Subrata Gangopadhyay and Srimati Dipali Bhattacharya. Venerated painter Shrimati Shanu Lahiri also enlightened the occasion by addressing the audience most lucidly and inspiringly. At the end of the competition she gave away the prizes. Throughout the day, important Office Bearers of ASISC – West Bengal Chapter visited the venue to encourage the students – Mr.Sujoy Biswas (Treasurer), Mrs. Usha Singh ( Vice President), Mr. Nabarun De (Secretary), Mrs Shikha Mukhopadhyay, Mr. Swapan Kumar Mitra and Mr. Bhola Nath Shaw (Member -Exective Body)

The paintings were then displayed at Galerie La Mère. The Future Foundation School drew a very befitting end by the presentation of a culture programme put up by the teachers and students.

The winners were announced at the end of the eventful day amidst defeaning applause and showers of congratulations . In the junior category first position was bagged by - Shreya Verkkedkar and B.Monica, St. Joseph's Schol, Habsiguda (Andhra Pradesh) and second position was bagged by Tanuja Pramanik and Samriddhi Sahu, Sheiling House School(UP). In the senior category first prize was awarded to Mudit Ganguly and Shubham Mehra, Smt. Leelabatibai Podar High School ( Maharashstra) and second prize was given to Sourav Mondol and Aniket Chakraborty, St. Xaviers Institution, Panihati(WB).||
