15-Aug-10 Inauguration of Freedom 2010
The Exhibition was inaugurated by Shri Anup Matilal, Director, Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre. The Secretary welcomed the Chief Guest and the artists and other visitors to the gallery. He mentioned the importance of the day and the significance of holding the show "Freedom" on this day.The Chief Guest addressed the gathering and mentioned his pleasure for being a part of the programme. He appreciated the ambience of the place comparing it with "Divine Paradise" and suggested that more programmes may be jointly organised by the two Institutions.

The show had a fabulous collection of paintings from 30 eminent artists.
These were: Water Colour work titled “Cock Fight” by Amal Chakladar; “Baishe Sraban” by Amit Sarkar and Uma Siddhanta's “Kapat Sampriti”. Siddhartha Sengupta's 'Jayanti' was a beautiful work using Ink and Water Colour.
Oil on Canvas : Anita Roychowdhury's “Alor Buke”; Pradip Rakshit's “Infinite Journey” and Partha Pratim Deb's “Composition” .
Atin Basak – “Eruption”; Goutam Basu – “Forgotten Freedom Fighter”and Bratin Khan- “With the Butterflies” saw usage of Tempera.
Mixed media usage could be seen in B. R. Panesar's “Environment”; Chanchal Mukherjee's “Freedom”; Krishna Bandyopadhyay's Chanda and Ramananda Bandyopadhyay's “Mukto”.
Acrylic :- Debabrata Chakrabarti – untitled; Dwijen Gupta – “Katha”; Kishore Chatterjee – “Eye Witness”; Munindra Rajbongshi – “Homage”; Rathin Kanji – “Stop War Crimes”; Sekhar Kar – untitled; Shamindranath Majumdar - “Deluge”; Subrata Gangopadhyay – untitled; Sudip Banerjee - “Abandon”.
Hiran Mitra – “Vision” was Charcoal on Paper; Suhas Roy's untitled work also saw usage of Charcoal on Canvas and Bipin Goswami's “Composition” using Pastels.
Niranjan Pradhan – “Mukti” and Suktisubhra Pradhan- “Udbhas” showed beautiful usage of Gouche
Sanatan Dinda's “Yugopurush” was a beautiful creation using Conti – so was Wasim Kapoor's “Christ” - usage of Conti and Pastel on Paper.
