Our centre at Shaktikunja, Garia
This centre is situated at Shaktikunja in Shatindra Palli, Garia. The house was gifted by Smt. Shanti Sudha Ghosh, veteran freedom fighter and one of the early Indian Principals of Hooghly Women's College. She was also an eminent mathematician. She offered the building to Sri Aurobindo Institute of Culture for Women's Welfare Activities in the early 1990s.
The Painting class at the Shatindra Palli unit has generated interest among the children of the neighbourhood. In the month of January, "Nabanna Utsav" was celebrated with an exhibition and a "Sit and Draw" Art competition. 100 children of the area took part in the competition.
Printing press
The Printing Press at Lakshmi's House is working fine. All the sections of the Institute enjoy the facilities of printing cards, bills, vouchers, pads, envelopes etc.
New addition to Institute Infrastructure
A new block was built for the Accounts Department was built next to the reception. It has given the entry to the campus a new look. The Accounts Block was inaugurated on 9th October, 2002.
Needless to mention, Sri Shyamal Mukherjee was responsible for the design and erection of the structure.

SRI AUROBINDO RESEARCH CENTRE

A research scholar working under the guidance of Dr Amalendu De joined the Institute to carry out a research project on the Alipore Bomb Case based on the proceeding found from the Alipore Court. The proceedings would throw more light not only on this trail but also on the role of Sri Aurobindo in the first phase of the " National Revolutionary Movement.
Progress report of the Research Work
Annotations of the main points of the volume number 1: "Charges against Sri Aurobindo and 33 other accused" was completed. A brief biographical narrative of the 34 revolutionaries was prepared.

Sri Aurobindo Parichay Gallery

A son-et-lumiere exposition on the life with particular reference to the Indian Freedom Movement in the 21st century. Authentic arms and ammunition have been replicated, the cell in Presidency Jail and Alipore Courtroom have been recreated in a rare historical account that promises to transport the viewer into an epoch of patriotism, valour and sacrifice for the Motherland.
This is a must-see for all lovers of history and those who want to know more about the Indian freedom struggle and India's contribution to it. It remains open every day from 3 - 6 PM.
