An exhibition-cum-project display with "Communication" as its theme - 18th-21st July 2006

The Future Foundation School and Arun Nursery School displayed their students' work through
an exhibition-cum-project-display. Prof. Sraddhalu Ranade of Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Pondicherry
inaugurated the exhibition on 18th July 2006 at 10 am.

| 'Theme Teaching' |

Arun Nursery School and Classes I and II of The Future Foundation School use 'Theme Teaching'
for their pedagogy and children learn through an integrated curriculum working on the following themes
through the year:
|
- KG - 'My Classroom'
- Nursery - 'Colours', 'Hot Days' and 'My Body'
- Class I - 'Our Garden'
- Class II - 'Green'

| 'Thematic and Integrated Projects' |
|
|
Classes III to VIII of The Future Foundation School use 'Thematic and Integrated Projects'
for teaching the various subjects. Here, stress is laid on the development of skills and concepts.

- Class III - 'My City'
- Class IV - 'My State'
- Class V - 'My Country'
- Classes VI to XII - 'Communication'

The entire exhibition integrates all subjects through the single topic - 'Communication'.
Students have attempted to exhibit the following:
|
- early forms of communication
- how languages began
- the transformation from writing to printing
- letters written by eminent personalities
- how the postal system functions in India
- how signals are used for communication in the Army, Navy and the Air Force
- how the physically-challenged communicate
- Communication in birds and animals
- Communication between nerve cells in the human body

Modern means of communication and their impact on the environment has also been
highlighted. Students have put up skits & role-plays on the same theme - they portray
emotions through extracts from Shakespeare's plays. A short skit in Hindi depicts the
importance of learning correct grammar and using proper pronunciation. Children have tried
to communicate their love for animals through a mime. Communication through dance forms
has also been displayed. Presentations have been created on genetic communication,
satellite communication and other topics.
