Aspiration 2004

Like other years, this year too "Aspiration 2004", began on the 10th of January. Eminent dancer Shri Govindan Kutty inaugurated the exhibition.

Aspiration, an annual celebration of music, dance and various other aspects of culture, including an exhibition of Sri Aurobindo Ashram Products and other handicrafts of West Bengal, had "Nagaland" as its focal theme, representing India's North-East.

Attractive stalls displaying a variety of products drew large crowds. Some of the products on display from the Pondicherry Ashram were: Perfumery products, incense sticks made at the Cottage Industry of the Ashram and Auroshikha, hand made paper products, marbling sarees, special candles, towels, napkins ,bedcovers of the weaving unit and the Ashram's publications.

The Sri Aurobindo Seva Trust at Satindrapalli put on display a number of its products such as bedcovers ,dusters, block printed sarees, uttarias and its famous brand of Ahuti and harmony. Other Centres in West Bengal working with projects of village development displayed their products too, notable among them being Ushagram, located in Nadia District which had exquisite jute products and batik garments. Ranaghat centre had on display spices and other food products.

Artisans from various districts of West Bengal displayed their wares too. These wares included: shoal, potua earthenware etc.
